09A2 U50 - Spectroscopy

Abstract

The BL09A beamline is a high-performance U5-SGM undulator beamline, which covers photon energies from 60 to 1400 eV. The photon source is generated by an undulator of a 5-cm magnet period. A spherical grating monochromator with four interchangeable gratings of ruling densities of 285, 400, 800, and 1600 ℓ/mm, is used to provide the photons desired. The energy resolving power at 400 eV is better than 10000 with slit openings set at 10 mm. The average photon flux is about 1012 ph/sec/200mA, as measured with slit openings set at 60 mm. The focused beam spot size is about 100 mm ´ 150 mm. The beamline bifurcates into two branches after the horizontal refocusing mirrors. Branch 1 has a dedicated Scanning Photoelectron Microscopy (SPEM) end-station, while branch 2 accommodates user-brought end-stations capable of XPS, AES, photoabsorption, and other spectroscopies. Light can be directed to only one of the branches at any given time.
