This beamline is the world's first Dragon beamline originally designed by Dr. C. T. Chen in 1985. The beamline was transferred from NSLS to TLS and re-constructed in 1998. The original Dragon beamline features separate horizontal and vertical focusing mirrors, and a movable exit slit to provide both high flux and high resolution. After moving to its new home in TLS, the Dragon beamline had a number of improvements, including the addition of two reflection mirrors between the gratings and the exit slit to extend the lowest energy to 10 eV. Six spherical gratings are used to cover an energy range from 10 eV to 1700 eV. This revised Dragon beamline, which is primarily used for performing MCD related experiments, has been operational since 1999.
